10/7/08 – The fun part of art, for me, is when I’m actually well on my way to making the image appear. The drudgery of artwork is getting to that point.

Right now, I’m in the middle of developing the image for the next airbrush/scratch piece.

It will be somewhere around 23″x29″ (give or take) when done. I’ve been doing tests since last year (none successful in any way other than teaching me what not to do). If this was a straight airbrush piece, it wouldn’t be too difficult, but I’m going after a specific look with various textures and techniques, and as such this piece could easily make me back away to try another day. Still, if we don’t challenge ourselves, how will we ever improve?

It’s at this point that I try to remember the airbrusher’s mantra: It’s only paint…it’s only paint…it’s only paint.
