Little Girl Time

Jul 9th, 2006 | By CJ | Category: Journal

Three years ago I would never have imagined that I’d enjoy spending time with a youngling. I was never one to be around kids. Now, with my family, there really is little choice: either I can be a shmuck, or I can be a human being. It took a little bit of time to shake off the old ways, but I’ve opted for the latter.

I spent a fair amount of my Friday night playing with Little Lara*…at just over 2 1/2, no longer a baby but a little girl. She has a surprisingly wry sense of humor (not accidental humor, but with an intentional irony) that is astonishing to me from one so young. I play with her, and she talks to me. We get along pretty OK.
