My Ears Are Still Ringing

Living in New Mexico means that you are very familiar with thunderstorms. We get a lot of them. To be honest, we get so many that I barely pay attention. Fifteen minutes ago, a bolt of lightning hit our neighborhood…which isn’t all that unusual. You see, we have a couple of amateur radio operators, and they have sizeable antennae set on their property that serve as magnificent…er, lightning rods. As a result, we get several strikes in our neighborhood every year.
So, why are my ears ringing? Well, like I said, we had a strike fifteen minutes ago and I was in the room facing the strike just about ten houses away…and the window was open. I got the full 120+ decibel blast from the thunder while in an enclosed space. And yep, my ears are still ringing.
