Making a Memorable Valentine’s Day

Feb 3rd, 2009 | By CJ | Category: Snippets

In a world filled with love in all its guises: requited, unrequited, kinky, quiet, romantic, and scores more, memories abound of Valentine’s Day. I have not been immune. I, too, have a Valentine’s day memory to share. (Yes, just the one… I’m a geek-nerd, deal with it.)

I started a couple of days before, stuffing a basket with V-day goodies and decorated the lot with flowers and hearty (literally….hearts) petsweethearts-260flotsam. Very cheesy (intentionally), and very sweet (I hoped). I would drop it off before wakey wakey time to let it be a surprise.

Well, it snowed heavily overnight and into that morning, so the short journey was incredibly treacherous. I got there and instead of being able to make a ninja-like entrance to drop off my surprise like a stealthy Santa, the dogs announced my arrival…loudly. This cascaded down to me getting chided rather strongly by a now irate woman for this error and others. So much for the gesture.

I drove back home slip-sliding in the still falling snow knowing (thankfully) that the events of the day would never be repeated. Good times.

(What? You thought it would be a happy story? That V-day was most definitely memorable [my ears are still ringing years later]. Not treasured, but memorable.)
