10-26-09 – From 10:40am to 12:00pm on October 26, 2009, TIB experienced an outage that prevented the site from being accessible. Obviously, that has been fixed.

For the geek-minded: the site’s .htaccess file got modified by the software at some point (no, I’m not shifting blame…I haven’t touched the file in recent days). Unfortunately, the modification was killer and subtle. It took a while to track down. This is a problem that does crop up from time-to-time. Usually it’s an easy and quick fix. This time it took a little longer than usual. Ah, the joys of computers, where one missing new-line in code can ruin your whole day.

9-5-09 – I’ve changed the plug-in software for the contacts page. The old one was much more of a hassle than I felt it needed to be. Besides that, I never really got it to work the way I wanted to. It’s replacement will do for now. If you have any problems with it…I guess you’ll have to tweet me or something, because obviously you won’t be able to send me a contact form to tell me about it.

6-28-09 – The TIB .htaccess file got munged. Yes, it was only missing one character, but it was an importantly placed character. As a result, the site was down for about 10 hours (would have been fewer had I not done that pesky going-to-sleep thing). Still no clue as to the cause. Shouldn’t have happened.

6-xx-09 – Been having issues with the ratings plugin after Wordpress updated to 2.8. Even though it’s a bit more difficult, though more feature-rich, I’ve switched over to GD Star Ratings. There are some things I wish it would do easier, but on the whole it works and seems to be in it for the long-haul.

4-27-09 – I’m tweaking the theme a little bit to make the page a bit more friendly and/or faster. I’m just hoping not to break anything. This current round of tweaking should only last a day or two.

4-17-09 – I hope I’ve fixed the bug where the Contact Form wasn’t actually sending emails.

4-14-09 – I’ve installed a forum. It’s initial reason for being is TTSCC fanfic development, but it’s likely to grow if there’s interest.

3-8-09 – I’ve made it easier to print blog articles and pages. At the bottom of the post there is a link for printing. At the moment it’s not handling the formatting of text with images as well as I’d like, but it’s a start.

2-21-09 – Two updates. First, I’ve changed the audio player I use so that it integrates more nicely with the site’s layout. The second change is more philosophical: Figuring that I should practice what I preach, I’ve decided to make metric my standard system of measures. I’m not planning to retroactively update old posts. I also don’t guarantee I won’t make mistakes, especially with temperature. Where conversion is important, inch-pound measures will be included in parentheses.

2-5-09 – The eagle-eyed have noticed that I changed the URL structure of the posts. Much cleaner than before, and changing category names is less of a hassle. The old names will remap to the new names, so you don’t have to change your links, though it couldn’t hurt.

1-21-09 – As you can see, I’ve added a link in the header that points to my Amazon store. This will evolve over time, but at least it’s a start.

1-13-09 – I think I have a handle on the slugglish post loading. I’ll keep monitoring to make sure. Again, thanks for your patience.

1-12-09 – No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you—I’ve changed the format of the site. I hope that it’s cleaner and easier for you to use. It’s about 95% finished. Still some tweaking here or there, but I felt it was more than good enough to take online.

12-26-08 – Upgrading the Wordpress software that runs this site created some sluggishness with page loading compared to before the upgrade. It’s a known issue that I hope will be corrected soon. Thanks for your patience.
