I’ve been a women’s sports fan since the 70s. I’ve also been annoyed by the misogyny of media, politicians, and even religions toward these sports. If the playing field is never going to be level, then maybe the ladies should change the rules of the game.

This past television season has seen an amazing shift in the entertainment viewing landscape. Due to a ripening of a variety of media, we have finally entered the nirvana of on-demand entertainment. The question is: how to monetize it?

It’s been an interesting off-season in the WNBA. Without an Olympic games or a World Championship to syphon off players, this could be one heck of a season. The league and teams have already sprung some things that will make 2009 different than 2008.

Super Bowl. Football. Commercials. The Boss. More Commercials. Trophy. Worth it? Maybe. The Winner? You know, that’s the question, isn’t it? Why do we watch this circus every year, awarding it the highest television rating? Is it just about the game with the funny-shaped ball?

It’s a little known fact that in the United States, the vast cabal that actually makes the decisions often will confer with the Emperor Overlord as to the best way to conduct the affairs of the nation, both large and small. As I was fortunate to find myself in a position to be of use, I thought I’d mention a few things that I’d like to see tended to.

This afternoon I received the 2008 edition of TV Guide’s Fall Preview issue. For some reason that even I can’t fathom, I wondered what the Preview Issue looked like 25 years ago. Well, after rooting around my archives of things of dubious worth, I found a copy of the September 10-16, 1983 issue of TV [...]

While the DVD doesn’t release until December 20, 2005, I already know that I strongly recommend this title.
Born from the mind of Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Serenity is a continuation of the adventures begun on the too-soon-cancelled show, Firefly. This space-faring outlaw crew travels on the fringe and in [...]
