To a lot of people, a can of beans isn’t a big deal. To a native New Mexican whose lineage goes back to when the area was a Spanish colony…it’s a very big deal. So when I say that Taco Bell Home Originals: Fat Free Refried Beans are my choice for my daily bean, heed should be…erm…heeded.

Being a vegetarian, I eat a lot of the usual vegetarian staples that originate from around the world. I’ve just had the most enjoyable babaganough I can ever remember having.

Since my birth anniversary is coming up soon, a subset of the Scotts* treated me and Jamie to a celebratory dinner. A nice evening was definitely had.

As Emperor Overlord of the United States, my days are full. I mean really full. You think you’re busy. That’s nothing in comparison. I try to leave it to the Washington branch to take care of the details, or even leave it up to all y’all to use common sense to fix things. So I can’t begin to convey how miffed I am that I have to take time away from playing Pop Answers on Facebook to deal with this schoolyard stuff.

I live in the United States desert southwest. As the name “desert” broadcasts, our major resource headache is water—or, rather, the lack of water. We are fast approaching a situation where the effect on national food supplies as well as population health could become an issue.

I enjoy olives. People know that and try to be helpful…so I’ve eaten a lot of green, stuffed olives, and boring/bland black olives. While this fruit can be prepared in any number of ways, my go-to in recent years has been Mezzetta’s version of calamata (kalamata) olives.

I love “Ace of Cakes”. It’s one of the most entertaining shows on television. There’s heart, humor, art, and oh-no-they-dint moments in most episodes. That said, there is one person on the Charm City Cakes staff that is guaranteed to make me watch episode after episode: art director Anna Ellison.

A large variety of hot sauces find space in my pantry. As of late, my favorite has been McIlhenny Habanero Sauce. As most people know, habanero chiles can be among the hottest in the world. If you can tolerate the staple of The McIlhenny Co.: Tabasco Sauce; then you’ll really enjoy this offering.

I’ve been asked, me being a native New Mexican and all, if I have any good chile recipes. Of course I do. I figured I’d share a simple variant of the one done most often in our home. We always have this green chile sauce available to put on everything from burritos to baked potatoes [...]
